Chapter 4 part one

Chapter 4

I’m not sure if stunned is the right word to describe how I felt. In some realm of normality in which most people lived, what my mother, Willow, and Lenore claimed was fucking crazy. I almost felt like asking what they were smoking. So much so that my mouth actually opened and closed, yet just couldn’t form the words.
Although I felt so strongly that they were crazy, I knew they were right. Even so, what was i supposed to say?
“What do you mean exactly?” ValVal asked. I let go of a sigh. I knew I could always count on Val to keep herself a step ahead of me.
Willow took a deep breath. “First we show you..”
I actually wanted her to just give us the cold hard facts. The idea of stronger powers scared me. The abilities we already possessed were abnormal at best. They were always the underlying thing that separated other children from us.
When I finally snapped back to reality. Willow had relocated to the other end of the roof. She stood tall under the weight of her dress. Her eyes stayed closed. She looked almost scared. I got a nagging feeling in the pit of my stomach. I was certain she was trying to gain confidence... or maybe find courage somewhere deep inside.
Air filled her lungs and she let out a sigh thick with emotions. Her eyes closed as she pulled her right arm back. Than she did something I never would have expected. Her red lips pulled into a smile.
“Lenore dearest, are you ready?” She asked. Her voice was teasing, it was flirty. She was excited. Lenore gave her a tired smile. It looked painful when her skin pulled itself over the sharp bones in her face.
“Lets see if we still got it Willow.” Lenore called out with the most liveliness she’d shown in almost 10 years.
Lenore shifted the weight(all 96 pounds) of her body to her right foot as she stepped back on it. To our surprise she took off like a white bullet. Willow seemed to brace herself as Lenore came at her. Lenore threw her arms out and we saw it.
Lenores wings. Her breath takingly beautiful silver white wings. They weren’t larger than life with a ten foot wing span or anything but they looked strong. The wings looked like the strongest part about her.
The wind blew her white feathers everywhere. I jumped up and caught a stray feather floating above me, tempting me. The feather was soft to the touch and smelled like strawberries.
I shifted my attention back to Lenore in time to see her leap and catch flight. The run away feathers gathered around her and began to form something. It looked like a staff. The feathers reached an agreement and hardened in the staff formation. She pulled the staff back like a baseball player preparing to hit a home run. Or in this case, Willow.
Willow shifted her hips to swing the skirt of her dress. As the dress swung back into its place the texture changed. The top layer of lace began to thicken. It was becoming three dimensional and rising. It kept changing until in the blink of an eye the intricate layers of lace had risen to form long willow tree branches.
Willow ran her arm above the side of her skirt. A group of branches followed her long slender fingers into the open air next to her. She paused her hand mid air with the branches. The her fingers moved randomly and the branches scattered. They rejoined in the form of a staff similar to Lenore’s.
Both paused for a brief moment. All I could hear was my own heart frantically searching for a way out of my chest. When the moment of hesitation was over Willow took her staff and swung as hard as her thin arms allowed.

Now let me tell you, what she and Lenore did could put major league baseball players to shame.

Chapter 3

Valerian and I walked down the brightly lit hall ways of the hospital. Nurses, doctors, family members moved about carrying flowers and sullen expressions. We made our way to the elevator with the help of a kind nurse.
The elevator made us both feel uncomfortable. We were cramped in a contained space filled with mirrors and everyday people. There was no place to hide from their disapproving looks and side comments about how we looked. People associate me as being a common goth/punk teenager. My long black hair makes my ghostly white skin and green eyes pop. Val on the other hand stood out in her cyber punk boots paired with her marching band styled jackets. Her horn rimmed glasses contrasting against her lavender platinum blond hair was just icing on the cake. Now we didn’t closely associate with these subcultures though. But rather all types of kisser are very unique dressers. I tried to ignore their snide remarks that no attempt at whispering could hide. I had more things to worry about as our destination was closing in fast.
“At least they aren’t in I.C.U.,” Said Val not actually looking at me.  She was looking at a little boy gaping at her.
“…. I guess so.” I let out with a sigh. I felt guilty. Maybe if I hadn’t gone after Darren I could have kept someone out of the hospital. Wait there wasn’t a ‘maybe’ about it. I shouldn’t have gone after Darren. I should have stayed with my friends. My survivor guilt was starting to turn into something else. I looked down at my hightops playing all sorts of scenarios around in my head. I was so lost in thought I didn’t hear the elevators ding on the 4th floor. The absence of Val’s presence quickly snapped me back to reality.
Val and I stepped into the long half deserted hall way. It was as if the entire hospital had decided to shun this floor. Val and I were cautious walking towards the room. After last night nothing was the same. It seemed like we were in a state of paranoia that we just could not shake. We reached room 407 without being attacked by a closer. We paused in front of the door. We looked at each other. We didn’t need to use words to know how we both felt.
The door was thrown open suddenly to our surprise. We heard my mother lecturing Lunette, and the soft hum of the tv and other machines. Luna peered up at us through those huge powder blue eyes of hers.
“I felt it was you.” She said smiling. Luna and Lunette’s abilities as kissers were advancing at such a rapid rate we were all scared. Worse they were still too young to be classified as a specific type. But their abilities and frail bodies pointed to one day becoming an Aeris Kisser.
“Don’t just stand there!” snapped my mother.
All three of us very quickly relocated into the cramped room. Stella, Ai and Mavi didn’t look like their self’s. Bare faces covered in bruises and cuts. Blood stained Stella’s rice blond hair and Mavi’s golden hair. Their arms were bandaged, not broken, thankfully. They were still breathing, still with us, and that counted for something. It had too. I was just ever so slightly relieved. Val let out a big sigh at the sight of our friends. I stood to one side, watching everyone. Luna sat next to her big sister Stella, stroking her blond hair. Lunette continued to argue with my mother about some insignificant preteen drama.
“Where are their mothers?” Val asked looking around for signs of the missing mothers. Almost on cue, Willow came crashing into the room. Mavi’s mother down, 1 more to go.
“Speak of the Devil….” I started.
“And he shall appear…” finished Val.
Willow scanned the room for her daughter. She let out a little sigh when she spotted Mavi. She started to look away but then did a double take. She was confused by something. “What happened?” She asked Luna.
Val and I stared at her. She seemed way to clam considering her kid was attacked by a closer and was in the hospital. My own mother seemed more worried and I wasn’t even the one in the bed.
“Dolores…. What’s going on here?” She asked my mother directly.
“What do you mean Willow?” And Willow explained that when she got the call she thought it was because Mavi had had an accident during or after her roller derby match. She didn’t know Ai and Stella where injured too.
My mom looked uncomfortably at Val and I. “Val, give me that chair.” She demanded.  Luna and Lunette then quickly relocated to a corner. It seemed as if they were trying to disappear into it.
“Willow take a seat dear,” She said propping the chair up and making sure there was enough room for willows skirt.  Willow didn’t look pleased. She took off her top hat and smoothed out the lace on her Victorian styled dress. My mom watched, hoping it would magically take longer. It didn’t though.
“You see Willow-“ She stopped and Looked away from Willows porcelain face.  “Last night the girls had a job and well… They ran into… cl-cl- closers” She said looking away.  It was almost as if she had a hard time even saying the word.
I couldn’t see Willow’s face but she visibly tensed up at the mention of one.  I looked at Val, She looked right back at me. I could see she was becoming uncomfortable with how the situation was unfolding. Willows appearance brought us little comfort. I think we finally understood how her daughter felt almost every day of her life.
Willow stood up suddenly. The movement from her dress moved her chair out of the way.  She looked at us.  Her red lips formed a thin line. It was hard to tell if she was mad at us, scared, upset or all the above. My mother stood behind her, she had much the same expression. It seemed as if she were about to reassure us that this wasn’t our fault. But then something caught her eye.
“I guess this means we have to show them, don’t we?” Asked a slow disoriented voice we didn’t recognize. We all turned to look at the voice’s owner.
“Lenore…?” Willow Whispered. Val and I whipped our heads around to look at ‘Lenore’. We hadn’t seen her in almost 10 years it seemed. She looked old, yet young. No makeup to cover the deep bags under her eyes or the sharp bones in her face. Her thin frail body wore Stella’s clothes. My mom looked surprised to see her too. Only Stella, the twins and Grandmother Aurora were really allowed to see her these days.
My mom recovered from the shock more quickly than the rest of us. “Yes it does Lenore.” She was regaining her confidence.
                “Show us what?” Val asked.
“You’ll see,” Willow said heading for the door.
“Lets go to the roof, Luna Lunette watch them please.”  Lenore said pointing at her daughter and her friends.
We followed behind Lenore who in turn followed Willow and Dolores. No one paid us any attention as we made our way to the far end of floor four. We climbed the steps up to the roof of the hospital.  It was dark yet we could still see Lenore’s rice blond hair really well. We passed through the thresh hold of the door onto the roof. There Lenore held her arm out to stop us from going any further.
“Stay there.” She said. We looked as she joined Willow and my mother. They looked at us. I think the situation could be compared to that moment when your parents try and have a sex talk with you.
“Now girls, you are already aware you have…. abilities of some sort.”  Willow started. “Val, you retain information very well and can act as a mild conductor to electricity.
“Layla you can manipulate shadows and have good night vision.” My mom continued.
“But your abilities don’t stop there. You have the power to unlock and even stronger, more useful set of abilities. The true power granted to kissers.” Lenore finished.

Chapter #2 part 2

I sighed and got up carefully this time. I looked at the area of my closet. The only down side to having almost all black clothes is that they all look the same bunched together.

I picked up a pair of black skinny jeans and a black sweater. I threw them on and painted my eyes. I took a look in the mirror and for he first time thought, maybe i needed a bit of color to my attire. I panicked a little. Color, where would i find color? I looked around my room. Until something purple caught my eye. A belt, it would have to work.

I walked carefully downstairs. I didn't know what to expect. The closer i got to the last steps the harder my heart seemed to beat. It was a strange emotion, not quite fear or excitment, something in between. I waited a few seconds until i stepped of the last step. I turned the corner into the living room.

There he was. Darren, a coffin closer, sitting on my couch. No matter how pissed off i was at the thought of having one in my house, I couldn't dismiss how he looked.

He had his hands clasped together, elbow's on his knees and his head down. He looked tired, troubled, defeated...... scared. He looked up and saw me. His eyes grew wide and he stood up quickly.

This scared me a little and i stepped back a little. He looked like he was on the verge of saying something. He looked away.

"Can i help you with something?" I asked.

"I'm sorry!" he yelled and ran out the door. I was a bit startled by his running away and went after him.

"hey wait!" i yelled as the front door came into view. He ran past Val standing in the door. Wait Val?

"I've never seen you this active before lunch Layla" Said Val.

"Hey Val." I said trying to look past her.

"Don't bother layla, he does track."

"What? How do you know that?" I asked.

"Did a little research on him and the others from last night." she said not looking as confident as I'd expected her to be.

"What did you find.... Wait if your here who's watching Ai, Malice and Stella?!"

"Dolores and the twins." she said.

"First I'm hearing of this..." i said

"Oh ya your mom took Luna and Lunette to the hospital with her." Called my dad from the other room.

"Never mind then, can you at least tell me who hit me last night?" I asked.

"Annabel Lee did, Marionette beat the shit of of Stella, Briar beat up Malice and Freya cornered me and knocked out Ai." She finished. Last night had not been pretty. "Layla, they are Coffin Closers, things aren't looking very good for us."

Things looked so grim for us, what could we do?

"Lets go see Ai, Stel and Mavi." I said feeling even worse then before. Val nodded and started down the walk way. It might have been cold, Val was wearing a black army styled jacket and thick leggings under her skirt. But Val never felt the cold like others. Then again I was half asleep, i hardly felt the wind blowing. That was until hair flew and slapped me in the face.

"Stupid wind! I've been abused enough for a month now!" I yelled up into the sky. Val looked at me and burst out laughing. I laughed a little bit too. It was a nice change to the stressful situation we were now in.

Coffin Kissers chapter #2 part 1

No point in staying in bed all day i thought very literaly rolling out of bed. A blanket came down with me, I curled up in it. I feel back to sleep.

"Layla..... i do believe you are one of the only people on earth that could stay asleep after falling out of bed." Said a voice. I opened my eye's to look around the floor. All i saw were a pair of black boots. Combat boots with red laces.

"...... ugh..... dad.... not now." i mumbled half asleep. I felt the toe of those combat boots nudge my bruised hip.

"Get up Layla." He said softly. "You have visiters, I didn't know you had a boyfriend, why didn't you tell us?" He asked.

"..... what are you talking about, i don't have a boyfriend." i mumbled. I thought a little bit more. "Why do you ask?"

"Because there's a boy named Darren waiting for you down stairs." He said slightly confused.

Darren? Darren.... Darren..... Darren? Holy crap, Darren!

I scrambled getting up. I stepped on the blanket, slipped and fell right back down. The black boots took 3 steps back.

"Smooth kid." he said. "Better get your butt downstairs." he added walking out.

Chapter #1

Coffin kissers.

Muggy.... that word. Why is that word so important? I tried , as hard a s half asleep person can, to remember the word Muggy. Muggy.... my mind.. is my mind muggy? Now why is that?

Last night is...... muggy? Why? Everything is just..... muggy.

Images came to me slowly. A girl.... with long black hair.... wait thats me. I coffin.... it wasn't closed. Me.... what am i doing? There's a boy in it.... he's handsome. Why.... what am i doing? My head... why am i lowering my head? Did..... did i kiss that boy? Why am i screaming?! A scream!? That wasn't me screaming? Was it?!

I sat bolt upright in my bed. What the hell happened last night? Either something went really wrong last night or I've got a serious hang over.

"Mom!" i yelled out.

"yes kid?" my mom yelled back.

"Did i come home drunk last night?"

"No? I had to pick you up at the E.R."

"What! Why?" i panicked. Those screams, had something gone wrong? The door opened and in came my mother.

"My word child, i can only imagine what hell you 5 got into last night. You all landed yourselfs in the E.R., well Stella was half expected but not the rest of you. Valrian was the only one who left slightly unharmed. I mean-" I cut her off.

"What the hell are you talking about" i couldn't believe it.

"Holy shit kid, isn't it obvious you 5 got attacked last night." My mother flipped her jet black hair over her lace adorned shoulders and pourpously tore the courtains back. I cringed in pain as the light hit me.

My mother kept her back turned to me. Her pale face, smoky eyes and blood red lips reflected in the window. They all reflected my worst thoughts.

"Yes Layla, they are just as real as us, you all had your gaurds down, not to mention you were all either drunk or getting there. The coffin closer's got there first, and you 5 got your asses kicked."

I almost couldn't think straight. Like i'd been thinking straight at all, maybe i was hung over.

"Mom.... i can't remember what happened." I admitted meakly. I really didn't want to think about the previous night. I just wanted the throbing in my head and hip to stop.

"Think, surrender to your mind, It'll come to you." She said walking out the door.

Last night? Val.....? Valrians 17th birthday! We all wanted to celbrate. But..... Malice.... Malice? Malice had a really important tournament that night. The Arena!

That loud, crowded, rowdy arena. Malice skating around the rink punching the crap out of people. She did something...... oh thats right she gave a girl a concusion. There were a group of people..... hipsters? They were.... strange... not regulars.

A huge party? Maybe a rave? All for Valrian. A hug cake, so many candles..... we all sang to her. We danced and drank and laughed.... a lot. There was a guy..... with Val.... Avalon i think? They seemed to really like each other. But Valrians phone went off?

The phone went off? A text...? The text...... a job..... at the cementary. Thats where we went.

How we got there.... i can't remember. I do remember laughing hystericly as we entered the gates. Malice's blond hair flying wildly as downed a bottle of whiskey. Malice had been drunk. She had been drunk? She laughed until she fell still holding the bottle. Ai had been tipsy i think? She tripped over the root of a tree and crawled to a coffin. She only stared at it, why was that? Stella, being Stella walked off in one direction witha bottle of vodka. Val...... Valrian sat on a tomb stone watching us, downing a bottle of beer as well. Valrian was drunk.... no wonder she had left unharmed.

Me what had i done? There were coffins..... they were all opened. One caught my eye. There was guy in it, he was handsome. I leaned down to kiss him. I thought he was dead.... but.... he was warm? He moved, pushed me away screaming. I laughed at him, my red lipstike was smeared across his lips and cheeks. He screamed at us to run. We all laughed.

Ai got up and prepared to kiss the coffin in front of her. Something hit her hard in the back of the neck. She yelped in pain and fell forward, crashing into the coffin.

stella screamed out. I looked in the direction of her scream only to see her running towards us, tripping over the roots of trees. Desperate she smashed the bottle of vodka against a tomb and swung it back into thin air.

She must have hit something because we heard a nosie. A doll like girl with long blond curls came out of the dark still standing behind her.

"Stella behind you!" screamed Valrian.

Stella started to turn around when the girl kicked her from behind. The girl had such a slow, stiff manor of moving. The force of the kick however sent Stella flying forward into a tomb stone. I think there was a noise, maybe Stella's ribs breaking. Stella stayed slumped over the tombstone until she coughed up blood. The girl kicked her again.

"Its not polite to get blood on the tomb stones." she stated calmly. She kicked Stella once more before walking away.

I thought i saw movement in the corner of my eye. I turned to see the boy only to find he was gone.

"Like wtf, where'd he go?" I asked Val.

Val took a sip of her beer before pointing behind me. I was slightly confused but started in that direction.

"Alright, I know your there, come on out so i can get this over with, i'm gonna start throwing up pretty soon you know."

I turned back to see Val finishing her beer and jumping off the tombstone. A figure emerged. It was a guy with long silver hair.

In a flash he tried to hit Val, only to have her keep dodging. I had to find that boy i thought and took off.

I ran, not knowing for what. I came to a stop, there was something there, someone. It... she had long white hair with the tips dyed grey. Her red lips and eye's smiled down at me.

"Where ya goin?" She asked. I turned and ran. Not bothering to look behind. I ran in circles... i thnk? I ran back to find Malice being kicked by another guy, the doll thing stood near him.

Val sat on top of the silver haired guy, drinking the bottle of whisky Malice had been drinking.

"Whisky isn't my favorite.... but Stella killed the Vodka bottle earlier."

"Why didn't you stop them!" i screamed. She pointed behind her. It was the white hair girl from before. She held a staff ready to swing at her. She was cornered. So was I.

A figure emereged. He was a very handsome guy. "Now, now.... Freya, Jezabel, Briar... Marionette.... how about we let Annabel Lee do this." He looked at me.

"Stop! Just let her go...... she wasn't meant to be like all of you.... she wasn't....-" he choked up "She.....-" he started crying. It was the guy i kissed. he looked up and saw me. Or was it me? His eye's grew wide.

"Anabel don't!" he screamed scrambling to get up.

"I'm sorry!" yelled someone from behind.

I was hit in the head with something, hard. Very thing around me titered on the edge of darkness and complete darkness. Soon enough i gave into the coolness of the ground and closed my eyes, yet i continued to listen.

"No! Why Annabel?!" he cried out.

"Shut up Darren, we'll drop them off in a hospital or something." said one of them.

"Freya enough.... well i guess there's nothing else we could do. Briar get the car." said another one.

I heard movement. Foot steps, argueing, and bodys being moved. Somone picked me up, and i heard it, the sound of Coffin's closing.

I should say it now. I am a coffin kisser. A coffin kisser gives a purifying kiss to a coffin, very rarely to we kiss the person theme selfs. The kiss helps assure their safe passing and to lower their chances of seeing purgatory.

A Coffin closer just choses a coffin. Not caring, they are terrible people. What they do can put so many things out of balance.

Wars, fights, arguements, treatys, and agreements all of them started over the conflicting sides. Both sides believ that why are correct. Its not as if we chose this life. We would never condem anyone to this world we belong to. Never.

You are born into this world, very few have ever been able to leave.

Hello and welcome

Ok so my name is Lulu, i'm gonna be using this to post my Coffin kissers story. So far there isn't much done, so bear with me. I'm gonna put it up on here and hopefully on DA too.
